Empowering Young People to Connect, Thrive, and Build Brighter Futures

The Connect Youth Network (UK) is a registered charity dedicated to empowering socially and economically disadvantaged young people aged 16–18, particularly in London. We support young people during a critical stage of their development by helping them build the confidence, skills, and resilience needed to succeed in adulthood.

Many young people face challenges such as social isolation, limited access to opportunities, and barriers to education or employment. Through safe, inclusive and community-based programmes, we aim to create supportive environments where young people feel connected, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Our work focuses on promoting education, wellbeing, life-skills development, and social inclusion. Through mentoring, group activities, and personal development programmes, we support young people in developing the practical skills and self-belief needed to navigate their futures with confidence.

We also provide targeted support for young people who may be particularly vulnerable, including unaccompanied minors, young people in care, and those experiencing social disadvantage. By working collaboratively with community organisations, educators, and partners, we aim to ensure that young people receive the guidance and opportunities they need to thrive.

At the heart of our work is a simple belief: every young person deserves the opportunity to realise their potential and contribute positively to society.

Our History

The Connect Youth Network (UK) was founded from a strong belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to feel supported, connected, and empowered to build a positive future.

Drawing on over a decade of experience working with youth programmes, founder Paul Wamalwa recognised the challenges many young people face during the transition into adulthood, including isolation and limited access to opportunities. Motivated to make a meaningful difference, he established the charity to create safe, inclusive spaces where young people can develop confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging.

Today, The Connect Youth Network (UK) continues to work towards strengthening opportunities for young people and helping them realise their full potential.

The Need We Address

The transition from adolescence to adulthood is a critical stage in a young person’s life. For many young people aged 16–18, particularly those who are care-experienced or facing social and economic disadvantage, this period can present significant challenges. Limited access to consistent guidance, financial stability, mental health support, and meaningful employment opportunities can make navigating this transition especially difficult.

The Connect Youth Network (UK) works to bridge this gap by providing targeted support that strengthens young people’s access to education, promotes wellbeing, and builds the confidence and life skills needed for independence. Through mentoring, community-based programmes, and personal development opportunities, we help young people develop the resilience and capabilities required to move forward positively.

By intervening at this crucial stage, we aim to support young people in building stronger
